Unified Animal Health Platform

Livestock Movement
& Disease Tracking

A unified, high-integrity system for movement permits, outbreak monitoring, and disease zone compliance — serving farmers, veterinarians, and authorities alike.

Official digital platform for FMD movement control

How It Works

From application to field verification — six simple steps.

1

Apply Online

Complete a 4-step form: applicant details, origin & destination, movement details, and animal consignment.

2

Smart Route Check

Your route is auto-calculated and checked for FMD outbreak zone crossings in real time.

3

Review & Approval

Staff reviews your application; flagged permits get a risk assessment before approval or rejection.

4

Permit Issued

A unique permit code (WC-FMD-YYYY-NNNNN) is generated along with a signed QR code for verification.

5

Print Documents

Three printable documents are produced: Certificate, Origin Declaration, and Destination Declaration.

6

Field Verification

Inspectors scan the QR code at checkpoints to verify permit validity and data integrity instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about animal movement permits.

Who needs a movement permit?

Any person moving cloven-hoofed animals (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, or game) into, out of, or within a Disease Management Area in South Africa requires a valid movement permit.

How long does approval take?

Standard applications are reviewed within 1–3 working days. If your route crosses an active outbreak zone, additional risk assessment may extend this to up to 5 working days.

What if my route crosses an outbreak zone?

The system automatically flags routes that intersect active FMD outbreak zones. A state veterinarian will conduct a risk assessment, and additional requirements such as blood tests or quarantine periods may apply.

How do I verify a permit?

Scan the QR code printed on the permit using any smartphone camera, or enter the permit code on our online verification page. The system confirms validity and displays the permit details.

What documents will I receive?

Once approved, you receive three printable documents: the Movement Permit Certificate, an Origin Declaration form, and a Destination Declaration form.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is transmitted over HTTPS, stored with encryption, and protected by signed QR codes that prevent tampering. Full audit logging tracks every action on the platform.

Do I need an account to apply?

No — the Quick Application option lets you submit a permit without creating an account. However, registering for a free account lets you track all your permits and manage them in one place.

What animals and products are covered?

The system covers all cloven-hoofed animals including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and game species, as well as animal products that fall under FMD movement control regulations.
